Signs of Spring and Fresh Starts

Writer: Satoko KomatsuSatoko Komatsu

The other day, I saw daffodils sprouting near our apartment. A small but sure sign—spring is coming.

In Japan, April marks the start of the school year and new jobs. It’s a season of fresh beginnings. Here in the U.S., schools start in September, and I’m not sure if companies have a set timing for new hires. But no matter where you are, spring has a way of resetting the mind. After months of dark, cold weather, the longer days and warm sunlight bring a sense of hope. (Even with everything happening in the world, you know what I mean.)

People are going outside, enjoying the sun, feeling a shift in the season. And for me, that means new creations. I’m working on some new pieces right now—excited to share them soon!

No punchline today, just this: spring is coming, and so are new things. 🌱✨

daffodils are sprouting.
